I am attempting to use the publish to LTI tool for two sites, both using Totara 14. Everything has been adjusted in site settings and course according to the documentation I can find, and the LTI connection also seems to be working.

However, when I test the external tool, instead of launching course, I am taken to the other site's log in screen.

Help? Is there a setting related to guest/user access that needs adjusted on one or both of the sites? Thank you!

Hi Erin,

These are the steps I followed when I set up LTI on one of our sites:

Site 1: The course you want to show in the LTI window.

  1. Enable LTI as an enrolment method under enrolment plugins.
  2. Open the course you want to show with LTI.
  3. Under enrolment methods add LTI as a method.
  4. Fill in any details and then select add method.
  5. Click on Published as LTI tools in the admin menu.
  6. Copy down the URLs and the secret from this page.

Site 2: The course you use to access the other site through.
  1. Click add activity and then select add external tool.
  2. Select show more under general.
  3. Enter the Tool URLs and Secret key in the fields.
  4. Enter something in the Consumer key field (This can be anything).
  5. Click save and display.

Hi, yes, I have followed those steps. The site (Site 2, where I am adding the external tool) doesn't let the learners see the external tool, and instead takes them to the log in screen for Site 1. Is there something that needs done to bypass the log in step?
