Hi folks,

We use Totara (16) for external clients and create learning content for them in how to use our software. We have mostly free and also some paid content.

Is there a way to 'protect' paid video content so that a user/learner cannot share or distribute the video content with other people? Has anyone come across this challenge before?

Hope the community can help.

Thanks

Hi Mohammed

the short answer is if you make a video available to play then it is possible to copy the file - you can prevent the file being downloaded but there are technologies such as screen recorders that make the copying of videos possible.

Thanks Craig. Just as I thought.

I presume, preventing download can be done from within Totara?

Hi Mohammed

There are some options in the editor when embedding a video

i treid unticking show controls to hide the download link  but it didn't work for the video I tried - it may be that the video host is restricting the ability to download which some providers such as you tube and Vimeo provide for subscribers.

Thanks again Craig, I'll have a play with the settings.
