Hi all. We are struggling to figure out how to carry out a request from one of our clients regarding the certificate activity in Totara and are wondering if the community can come up with any ideas.

We have a course that has been live for a few months now, and has around 2000 completions. These are a mix of external, self-registered users and internal users. The course contains three SCORM activities, two file activities (all required for completion) and a certificate activity.

Our client is asking for self-registered staff certificates for to be split by company (a custom profile field) so that a certain number of "company managers" can only see their company's issued certificates - this has to be the PDF certificates generated by the certificate activity - Badges won't do. This is because of auditing, etc. This needs to include existing certificates and certificates going forward.

Our initial idea was to create multiple certificate activities, and restrict access by the profile field, however:

• Periously issued certificates don't seem to duplicate with the activity, so we would need a way to add existing certificates to these new certificate activities
• It also appears that the learner needs to manually access the activity to generate a certificate - can't this be done automatically? We preferably need the certificate to be saved as soon as the learner meets the criteria
• Using groups seems to filter the exisiting "View Issued Certificates" report by group - which could be a solution, but there doesn't seem to be any way to make this work dynamically

It's a longshot, but can anyone think of a solution that would help us meet our client's needs?
