Change Date Format from European to USA

We are currently using an older version (12) and will be moving to V16 in September.  In the meantime, we are being asked to change the date format in the system to a MM-DD-YYYY format instead of the DD-MM-YYYY format.  We haven't been able to find a way to do this.

Is there a way for us to accomplish this change?

Thanks, Natalie

Hi Natalia

If you are wanting to keep the strings in the language packs then you can change the date strings in language pack you are using.

Search in the langconfig component and change the date format to %m-%d-%Y - the capital is the long format of the date item

For example change the language string as below

Thanks for sending that.  Will these instructions work for V12?  I followed what you sent, but it doesn't appear to change the dates.  Are there different steps I could try?

Thanks, Natalie

Hi Natalie

This should work in Totara 12 - you may need to purge all caches as language strings are kept on server for a while

What area is this not working in and what language pack do you have installed ?

Is it possible to create a support ticket with more details if this doesn't help?

regards

The method for changing the date format in your system depends on the specific software or application you are using. However, in general, the date format is typically controlled by the regional settings or language settings on your computer or device.

To change the date format to MM-DD-YYYY in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:

Click the Start button and select Settings.

Click on Time & Language.

Select Region from the left-hand menu.

Under the "Regional format data" section, select the drop-down menu for "Short date" and choose the "MM-dd-yyyy" option.

Click on the "Apply" button, and then click "OK" to save the changes.

If you're using a different operating system, the steps may be slightly different, but the general process should be similar. You can also consult the software or application documentation or support resources for specific instructions on how to change the date format.

Keep in mind that changing the date format on your computer or device may affect other applications or programs, so it's essential to test and confirm that the new format works correctly with your system and any other software you use.
