Hi all, I'm a Technical Writer at Totara and I'm looking to find out more about how people use the Totara Help site, and how we can improve the user experience.

I'd like to understand more about how (and if) people use the page tree. If you use the Totara Help documentation, please answer the following questions:

  • Did you know you could expand the page tree by clicking the arrow icon (see below)?
  • Do you currently use the page tree to navigate the site?
  • Is the page tree your preferred method of site navigation?
  • Would you prefer if the page tree was expanded by default, with the option to hide it?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Liam

I did not know the page tree existed.  That small chevron is easily missed for the occasional (or maybe unobservant? ;-)) user.

I havent used the page tree for that reason but its definitely improved navigation now I know its there.  My preference would be to show it by default.  That probably age categorises me.

Does working for Totara mean I should know better?

Only just noticed this question. Thanks, Liam! I didn't know about the page tree on the Totara Help site. It is my preferred navigation method, so I was really missing it!
I often use the Table of Contents on the right-hand side and always wished there was something similar to access the other pages.

I'd prefer it if the page tree was expanded by default. It'd be good if the user could hide it, but it's not necessary (for me, at least). I personally hardly ever hide the page tree, but I like readjusting the width of it on platforms that allow it.
