Further to this, it would also be very useful to have an option to "Add evidence" as a course activity
Scenario 1
User is enrolled into a First Aid course that is actually completed off site
User completes the external First Aid course and receives a certificate
User goes to the Totara First Aid course and selects the 'Add evidence' activity
User completes the evidence form and uploads their certificate
Evidence verifier receives notification that the certificate has been uploaded (eg the user's manager/admin/temporary manager/assessor/or other defined user or group of users)
The notification includes a link to allow the verifier to navigate to the evidence item and verify
Once the evidence item has been verified the 'Verified' flag is attached to the record and the activity is marked as complete
The activity completion then marks the course as complete
Scenario 2
User is assigned to a certification called 'Truck licence' that needs to have a licence uploaded every 3 years.
User navigates to the certification and launches the 'Truck licence' course
User selects the 'Add evidence' activity
User completes the evidence form and uploads their certificate
Evidence verifier receives notification that the certificate has been uploaded (eg the user's manager/admin/temporary manager/assessor/or other defined user or group of users)
The notification includes a link to allow the verifier to navigate to the evidence item and verify
Once the evidence item has been verified the 'Verified' flag is attached to the record and the activity is marked as complete as per the EVIDENCE date (not the verification date)
The activity completion then marks the course as complete as per the EVIDENCE date (not the verification date)
The certification picks up the course completion and the window is closed, the user is certified
When the window opens, the course is reset BUT the evidence still remains in their evidence bank as a record.
The user now follows the recertification pathway, and will need to complete the 'Truck licence' course by completing the 'Add evidence' activity etc
There is so much scope for evidence to be used across the platform:
Evidence to be linked to a competency
User uploads evidence
User might link this evidence to their competency (perhaps via an achievement pathway)
Manager/Assessor etc receives a notification
The evidence is reviewed and verified and is deemed as sufficient for a competency status change
Evidence can be uploaded during a Perform activity
There is an element type within a Perform activity called 'Upload evidence'
User in the activity can upload evidence within the activity
The evidence uploaded here is added to the Evidence Bank.
A great feature of the evidence bank is the ability to report on it and provide the reporting to different stakeholders.
Using options like assignments or other course activity types just don't provide the same scope for reporting in a central place.
