Hide course sections while linking to them

Hi All,

I'm looking to put together a course that has a large number of sections using the grid format. The purpose of this course is to act as a resource repository for new starters that can be accessed through guest access. I was hoping to have a mix of visible main sections and hidden sub-sections which can be linked to using HTML buttons in labels. However, learners aren't able to access the content in the hidden sections when linked and and allowing them to view hidden sections makes them appear in the sections list defeating the point of them being hidden. Does anybody know a way I can make the content of these hidden sections appear on learner's screens while still only showing the main sections grid items on the course page?

Hi Jonathan

This sounds like using orphaned activities and linking to these might help - the learners won't be able to see the orphaned activities like they can with hidden activities.

Thanks for the reply, its there any way to do this for an entire section with multiple activities in it rather than multiple individual orphaned activities?

I think that if you create an extra topic and move the activities you want to orphan to this topic and then remove the extra topic this will do this orphan all activities in the topic.
