Hi,

We are trying to create an orientation course - for new staff members and their managers. Basically, a check list of things that a manager needs to do when they have a new staff member. An another course, check list of things for new staff member - check list of things they need to do as new member.

how to we create an audience to target managers, who has a new joiner added in their reporting line.

kind regards

Hi H SJ

If the user has a start date added for a job assignment and you know the name of the manager then the following audience rule should work

Hi H SJ

There is a rule Total number of direct reports at least one 1hat would select managers automatically but combining this with the start date wouldn't work as it would use the start date of the manager rather than their employee.

That's why I used the employee's manager name in the rule so it is applying rule on the same person

One way to achieve this might be to :

  • Create an audience which selects the new employees (eg start date last x days)

  • Create the new starters course with the following:
Audience enrol of the new employees audience
Self enrol which only permits managers
Course notifications which send to manager AND employee upon enrolment

Bingo. Employee gets started straight away and manager can join from the notification as required, or not.

thanks Greg. this looks like it will work. I will give it a go.

Another quick question - the manager may have to do this course (that comprises of activities - with self completion function so they can mark it complete themselves.

This, for a manager, may have to be done everytime a new staff member joins the team, and we need the records for each time it has been completed, how can we achieve this via a course? it would need to be reset everytime?

appreciate your help and prompt responses 🙂

kind regards
