Permissions issue for specific role

The role ‘Learning specialist’ which has custom permissions for specific needs given a permission ‘moodle/course:manageactivities’ which allowed LS role to edit the blocks to customize the page in record of learning, find learning & reports. Which is not acceptable.

Could you please separate the permission for editing the blocks vs managing activities or provide a solution how we can handle this scenario.

Hi Venkatesh

Can you confirm what role the Learning specialist role is based on as there may be other permissions allowed to allow the block to be edited.

As an admin can you go to the Block on the Record of Learning and select the Blocks editing on button and go to the setting cog of the block

Select permissions to see what roles have permission to view and edit the block and edit these to add or subtract roles. These are unrelated to the manage activity permission.

Hi Craig Eves,

The role archetype is 'None', the solution you provided to check the permission for the block didn't work for me. Please see the screenshot for the Custom role that we are discussing 'Learning Specialist'.

Please find the attachment which contains all the permissions for the role

Please suggest.

Thanks,
Venkatesh Akula

Hi Venkatesh

It is probably better for you or your partner to create a support ticket around this issue so we can try and reproduce and include the development and other teams to resolve.

We need to know your Totara version and any reproductions steps

Hi Venkatesh

From your email address you are not a Totara partner so you need to contact your Totara partner to create a ticket as only Partners can create support tickets.

Hi Balasubramaniyam

Thanks for your details - I can't see an account for you on the support desk so will create an account for you after confirming with the Partner team.

This sounds more like a feature request for adding a permission so will probably look to see if there is a workaround to achieve what you require.
