The Totara mobile app does not support Single Sign-On (SSO)

Morning all,

I am seeking advice here.

Firstly, thank you for your time and support, I really appreciate your advice.

We have tested the Totara mobile app for users, and most users use Single Sign-On (SSO), while a smaller group of people will use manual login, such as students, locums, etc.

However, when using SSO, the Totara mobile app says, "Your sign-in was successful but does not meet the criteria to access the resource." I have attached the screenshot to this post.

Secondly, I logged in as a manual user, and unfortunately, I can't see the dashboard at all.

I raised a ticket with our supplier, and they replied "SSO login issues on the Totara Mobile App is  due to the app not fully supporting SAML2 authentication. Unfortunately, this means that SSO users will not be able to log in via the app. The best way to access Totara with SSO is through a web browser on mobile device instead.
Regarding the dashboard access issue, some blocks and customisations may not be fully supported in the mobile app"

Is anyone else having a similar issue? If so, please advise me on this matter

Kind regards

Jargal

Hi Jargal,

If you need to display the SSO button in the mobile login page you should enable the webview or browser options through the admin settings according to the documentation you can find below:

/admin/settings.php?section=totaramobileauthentication

Hi Roger

Thank you for your reply. I've tried the webview and mobille browser.

  1. Webview – it works for a manual account however it does not work for SSO. I have attached the image one into the reply. Once the MFA is completed, it asks me to download another free app. See image 2

  2. Mobile browser – It does not work for either the manual or SSO account. Before you log into the system, it will offer you the Totara app again and again.

I am sorry for being slow here. Please advise me. What am I missing?

Kind regards

Jargal

Hi Jargal

It is probably best to report this problem to your Totara partner - Chambury they may have a customised version of the mobile app.

it looks as though your organisation is using Intune to control access to applications and resources for devices and your device is not verified for the Totara mobile app. Your Partner will be able to guide you here and may need to check with your organisation IT team to unblock the mobile app.

Hi Jargal

To add to Craig's response, you might want to take a look at the latest version of the Totara Mobile app and the course that is available here - https://totara.community/mod/page/view.php?id=23591

Thanks

Hi Lee

Firstly, thank you for your advise. I have spoken with Think eLearning, and they advised me to contact you. Would you be able to supply us with a copy of the IPA file for the iOS app and the APK file for the Android app so that I can run it through our analysis tool and assess the risk?

Kind regards
