Pulling User Data/Custom Field Information into a Block?

Dear all,

We are currently investigating if we can create a block which displays custom user information on a dashboard. For example, we created some custom fields in which we populate unique user information. We want to display the information from these custom fields in a block so that users can see this information. But we don't want to link them to the 'user profile page' (there is good reason for this!).

If anyone could point us in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

If you create a custom report with those fields in, and set the content restriction as only records relating to the individual, then you should only get one record for any given person viewing it. That report can then be displayed using a "Report Table" block. Not a beautiful solution, but would allow you to display the information without the link to the profile:

Replying to myself, but ideally there would be an option to use the Featured Links block (which is pretty much the Swiss Army Knife of blocks), but unfortunately it doesn't seem to allow using custom profile fields as placeholders like you can with standard profile fields (https://totara.help/docs/featured-links-block-placeholders). I've put forward a suggestion on the Totara suggestions system to expand the functionality: https://totara.canny.io/feature-requests/p/custom-profile-field-placeholders-in-featured-link-block.
