Totara tip of the day

A great feature of quizzes in Totara is the ability to use question banks. Question banks allow you to save questions into a repository and then reuse those questions elsewhere.

Did you know you could use a question bank to reuse questions in multiple quizzes? One Course Creator can add questions to a question bank in one course and those questions can be reused by a different Course Creator (with appropriate permissions) in another course entirely!

Don’t be afraid to paginate your quiz. A 20-question quiz will feel far more achievable divided into two pages of ten questions, or four pages of five questions.

At the end of the quiz learners will be shown a feedback page. If you want learners to return to your course page from this point, add a hyperlink back to your course page in their feedback text to help them return easily.

If you limit the number of attempts you will allow for a quiz, think about how you will manage this if learners use up their attempts. Have a policy in place.

Are you building a quiz? Be careful! Once a quiz has been completed by a user (even a test account), a Course Manager can no longer edit the questions in the quiz. If you need to edit the quiz questions you will need to delete the response first.
