We're looking for a way to make a category of courses visible to an audience vs having to do it course by course.  Is anyone aware of a way to do this?

Hi Steve

We developed a home page plugin we call EnlightenCatalog (we have a whole suite of plugins called EnlightenSomething or other). It was designed more to be a better way to navigate the training library, but we built in support for course and category visibility based on audience membership. Its sort of mimics ipad navigation or if you have ever browsed google images, its kind of like that. The thumbnail images get pulled from course and category summaries and then when you click an image, it expands the page to reveal sub-categories and courses. I have attached a screenshot from one of our customers sites that use it. We give it away for free if you are interested. Just shoot me an email at mlee@envisiontel.com.

Best

Thanks Matt.  Can you clarify?   Is this a separate navigation on the homepage?  Does is have any impact on the course catalog (enhanced)?

Hi Steve

Yes, it is a separate navigation on the home page. On the home page settings page, you can just turn off normal category and course list views and then there is a new drop down menu at the bottom of the page where you can select which views you want to display in our plugin. So, it can essentially just replace the standard list views. You can then assign audiences to the different categories or courses and select whether you want them hidden from others or visible but not enrollable.
