Totara 2.7 Report Builder "Course Completion" data source columns

Hi all, sorry to bug the forum again.

We are using 2.5.30 and are evaluating 2.7 for our future upgrade.

I noticed that in Report Builder, the data source "Course Completion," 2.7 seems to have added quite a few new columns:

Under the "Course Completion" section:

  • Date Started
  • Date Enrolled

Then under the "Course" section, there is also another

  • Course Start Date

My questions:

1. Is the "Date Started" and "Course Start Date" the same?

2. From 2.5.30 to 2.7.x, is there any DB table level changes that added new DB fields in those "course/program/cert completion" related tables??

3. If the answer to #2 is no, then is it possible to backport (thru our partner) these newly added columns to 2.5.30 "Course Completion" data source??

Thanks!

Hi Wen,

The course start date is the date in the course setting for the start date. (it might be helpful for courses that are part of a recurring program not sure since I did not find value in it)

The date started is the date that a learner started the course.

Peter

Hi Peter, thanks for the explanation! This is very helpful.

By the way, does people care about a "course" level due date at all (e.g. for compliances and/or auditing purposes), even though that "due" dates might have to come from program or certification level? I'm just curious, as this seems to be common use case, but I don't think it's in the current implementation yet. Thanks!
