You're right - my understanding is this may have been some contributed code from Partners. I've flagged this issue as an improvement  (TL-10405) and linked it to this thread. Unfortunately we are up to our eyes with existing commitments & the release of V9 imminent so I couldnt give a definite date but hopefully its relatively straightforward to extend the functionality across all the applicable report sources.
