How to enroll a cohort to a course

Hi,

I was wondering how to enroll a cohort to a course like we do in moodle 2.

Has this been implemented in Totara? (Our current verion is 1.1.5)

Cohorts have been implemented in v1.1 so you should have them. These are different than the ones in Moodle - they can be created dynamically based on the value of a field such as a profile field or position field.

The good news is that the cohorts concept is currently being worked on to make the cohort selection and assignment to courses more flexible.

Cohorts can be assigned to program.

As far as enrolling people from a cohort goes there are a few ways this could be done depending on what your current practices are - you could add a program to learning plan and use the devplan enrolment plugin to manage enrolments

When is the upgrade to 2.0 expected. I am setting up a new site and needing cohorts mapped to courses not just programmes

The upgrade will be based on Moodle 2.2 , there is no definite date for the release of Totara 2.2. (the window expected is the second quarter this year)

Are you wanting to map cohorts to courses for enrolment purposes - if so it is possible to assign courses to a program and to assign program to a cohort.

It is also possible to assign a program to a learning plan and using the devplan enrolment plugin this allows people to only enrol on courses that have been approved on their learning plan.
