Course Deleted from LMS - Will this affect my Learning Plan
by ? ? - Monday, 8 October 2012, 3:37 AM

Hi All,

I am wanting to delete one of the courses and the SCORMs we have available on our LMS, however, there are some of my colleagues who have completed this and it is logged as completed on their Learning Plans.

If I delete this course from the system what affect will it have on individuals Learning Plans.

Will it still show they have completed and passed this or will it be completely removed?

Many thanks for your support in advance.

Chelle

Hi Patrick,

I have been thinking about this in more detail.

As we currently do not have a process in place like yourself.  Is there no 'backup' for the courses we create?

My concern is if we delete something in error can we retrieve this from a History or Archive place?

I look forwrad to your comments.

Hi Michelle,

There is an automated backup option under courses>Backups in which you can set up automated backups for your files and specify where they are held.

regards,

George.

Hi Steph,

This is the only way to back up courses within Totara. You can specify the filename in order to make it clear the course is a back up copy which will minimise the chances of it being deleted by accident, it would be good practise to inform all Admins too.

hope this is useful,

George.

Hi Steph

The course backup file is able to be copied can be copied onto a removable device and stored offsite as well as a whole site backup file.

The course backup file can be restored to a specified category- to a new course or existing course. User data can be saved and a selection of some course activities.

regards

Craig
