Is it impossible to consider splitting the content into manageable chunks in standardised formats? Many movie formats can be displayed directly in the page and anything longer than a few minutes may well be skipped through anyway.

We are working with an Alfresco/Totara repository integration at the moment to determine viability for a client. It seems like an in house Alfresco server could meet your requirements.
