Just wanted to clarify:

If the moodle/course:view capability is set to allow in the Learner role, will this allow the user to view a course without enrolling themsleves and generating a completion record?

Hi Richard,

This capability is really for Managers and Course creators http://docs.moodle.org/24/en/Capabilities/moodle/course:view, rather than Learners. Would "Allow guest access" under the course settings be a better option?

Hi George

Yes, I saw that, otherwise Managers get emails about assignments and other info they don't want.if I remember rightly.

However, I wouldn't mind removing the Guest role (which we are currently using to allow Learners to view without enrolling).  It works but I don't otherwise see any need for Guests on the system so I wondered about this capability.
