SCORM Packages no longer displaying in LMS with IE 11

Hi,

Some of our clients are reporting errors with SCORM packages not displaying/loading in Totara LMS when using Internet Explorer v11, after it has automatically updated this week. See screenshot below:

IE11 SCORM issue

 

This SCORM was created in Storyline and is displaying a Flash version. We tested this in other browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) and they all work fine.

Client has done the following to try and rectifying the issue, but has had no results:

  • Republish  SCORM and re-upload SCORM file

  • We have tried waiting up to 15mins for it to load.

  • Clearing Browser cookies and history

  • Updating Flash Player

 

Please provide any advice around whether this is a Totara LMS issue or a content/Browser issue.

Hi Ira,

It is a known Moodle bug:

Apparently the MDL-43019 is resolved by a backport of a fix in 2.6 and will be released in the next Moodle 2.5.4 - this may not be released for another couple of months yet so if it is a real problem we may port that particular change into Totara in advance of the Moodle 2.5.4 release. There is also the suggested workaround:

"As a workaround on our site, we've added <meta http-equiv="x-ua-compatible" content="IE=8"> to the theme right after the <head>. This prevents the issue from happening on IE11"

Which might be a quick workaround in the interim....

We're going to go ahead and backport MDL-43019 into Totara 2.4 and 2.5 as soon as possible, as this has now been reported by a few partners.

Will this fix make it into the next patch releases for Totara 2.4 & 2.5?

Assuming it clears testing in time for the next releases, then yes.

A patch to resolve this issue was included in today's (24th December 2013) release of Totara 2.5.4

Next 2.4 release is scheduled for the 14th Jan Ira, and the fix for the IE11 Scorm issue will be included.

A fix for this issue was included in today's (14th January 2014) release of Totara 2.4.16
