Quiz complex randomization

So I have some massive assessments. In each Quiz i have multiple topics.

Needs:

  1. Randomize responses in questions
  2. Randomize questions in each topic/section
  3. Randomize sections/topics
  4. Sequential
  5. End Feedback
  6. Retakes unlimited
  7. Keep all attempts

Right now #3 is the only thing I cant do.

I can get the ABCD responses randomized easily

I can randomize questions within the topics

I cannot randomize the order of topics.
I see no way of nesting all the topics into a master topic that is randomized.

any thought Totarites?

Hi Nate

I had a look at the options for selecting random questions from question categories - there aren't many options.

Creating sub categories with questions for each topic and choosing the Include questions from subcategories too selects questions from random topics but doesn't keep topics together. This seems to be the closest to your requirement.

that was one of our solutions. Sadly our client is looking to keep questions in the same category together but the categories randomized, then questions inside the categories random and the responses random. they are very concerned about cheating.

Hi Nate

As far as reducing opportunity to cheat in quizzes there are some strategies under https://docs.moodle.org/30/en/Effective_quiz_practices#Quiz_security_and_cheating that can help.

Creating larger quiz banks with categories for each question variant could help but take a while to setup.

That is a good idea for the future but for now I think Im going to stick to explaining probability. with 10 100+ question quizes I think we can get them to change the contract.
