Is it possible to edit the default user profile page. I don't mean add blocks, I mean hide some of the default sections, like "job assignment", from learners.

Hi James,
Visibility of the user profile is a bit all or nothing - I had a look at role permissions and block editing but I'm not seeing a way to remove sections from view. At this point it would require some custom code to hide those sections from view, but if it is something you'd like to see I highly recommend giving a +1 to this feature request which has the same goal.
