User Login Issue
PappasPeter 发表于 2019年07月31日 Wednesday 04:35

Hi Folks,

I have a couple users who are unable to login or the login time is a very long time. When viewing the user's profile the profile page takes several more seconds (say 10 seconds) versus viewing my own for instance which comes up in about 1 second. When I log in as the user I can  get to the continue button although it takes a bit more time than most users but I if I click continue or go directly to the users dashboard then it will either time out or may take almost 300 Seconds. If I set the server time out higher it will eventually get to the users dashboard. I have almost 1400 active users and this slow login only happens to 2 users as far as I know. the latest users account started acting funny right after updating to version 12.8 but the other user has been suffering a longer than normal login process for some time.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone experienced this or something similar?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I've seen this happen for users who are enrolled on a lot of courses.  Do these two users have more enrolments than others?  When I saw this before the users in question were enrolled on hundreds of courses.  I can't remember the exact details but I think the slowdown was due to the navigation block looking up all the courses every time it displayed.

Hope that is of some use to you.

David

Hi David,

These two learners do not have more courses than many of the other learners who do not have the issue. They are middle of the pack so to speak with course load.

Also we use Totara 12.8 and users login to their dashboard which does not show all their courses or the navigation menu.

The profile is slow but the dashboard and home screen will actually timeout if there are a lot of users online.

Thank you for sharing that though. It is something I can look at as a comparison point between users.
