Converting a quiz grade to a scale

Hi All,

I have a course where most activities are graded on a scale "Competent" or "Not yet competent". Then there is a quiz graded out of 10. I would like a grade that says "Competent" when you pass the quiz but when I try and use a grade category to convert the quiz grade to a scale it shows competent if you get 5 or above. I understand this is how the scales work but is there any way to adjust things to achieve a "Competent" only when the quiz is passed?

Many thanks

James

Hi James

It isn't possible to set the Grade type of a Quiz to a non numeric value.

It is possible to change how the grade is displayed in the gradebook .

I you go into Course admin > Gradebook setup for the Quiz and select Grade display type to Letter .

Then select Gradebook setup from the Course admin menu and Letters tab and type in the the Letter Competent for grades > 50% and Not yeat competent for grades 0 - 50

This should show these words in the gradebook
