Forum Moderation Feature

Is there a way to moderate a forum, so that posts don't go live until a moderator has approved the post?

Or are their plans to add this feature in the near future?

Thank you.

Group Totara

Hi Vicki

It is possible to achieve 'moderation' by using permissions for the forum - you can create a role of forum moderator and choose what you want to allow.

There are also different types of forums and settings and ways of limiting replies such as Each person posts one discussion, blocking posting, locking discussions

There are quite a few permissions - ones that are useful for the role include

  • reply to locked discussion
  • Delete any posts
  • Edit any post
  • exempt from post threshold
  • reply to announcements
  • View hidden timed posts
  • Always see Q and A posts

By combining all the setting you should be able to achieve moderation functionality that is close to what you require.

👍 to this. Moodle added the ability to manually lock forum posts in 3.7 and it would be nice to see this added to Totara core.
