Scheduling Upload Completion Records

Scheduling Upload Completion Records

Is there any way to schedule an Upload of Completion records?  We have an external partner who sends us files every night with completion data for their courses.  I know we can manually upload the Completion data (once we get the file into the correct format) BUT I really want to schedule the upload, just like we do with the HR Import.  Is this possible?  Is there perhaps a Totara plug-in for this?

Thanks in advance.  Carol.

Group Totara

Hi Carol,

Its not possible to do this at present, its a manual process which happens in real time. We could be interested in developing the functionality, but our feeling is that its a kind of one-off requirement. Do you have a use case you could share with us?

Have you contacted your Totara partner, perhaps they could arrange something for you?

cheers,

George.

Thanks, George, for that information.  Our basic use case is that our users take Harvard Mentor Manager courses directly through that website, not via the LMS.  Then Harvard sends us a .CSV file every night that contains the userid, the name of the course, start date, end date, and course status.  The LMS we are transitioning from automatically uploaded that file into the user's transcript.  It doesn't make much sense to me that this is a one-off type of requirement, although we only have one situation, just because there are so many external vendors.

Now that I know it is not possible in Totara, I will work with our partner and see if they can help.   Thanks again.  Carol.

I know this is an old thread (5yrs) but we have much the same use case.

Totara is our system of record for training records, and where we provide some e-learning courses and certification.

Because it is our "system of record" we need to load information from other sources.

An external training provider delivers information about our staff's course completions each week. e.g. Fire extinguisher training (across 40 locations, 650 staff) every year. Courses are happening every week.

We have 10s of these types of courses. As you can see this becomes an overhead that could be automated. Just like we automate the loading of new staff details every night.

Use case:

As a Totara admin for a corporate organisation, much of time time each week is spent uploading course AND certificate completions. I could use this time to improve existing courses and help learners get better outcomes.
