Hi,

I have a workshop with someone selected in an event role.

Now I can select multiple people to have an event role but I'm unable to deselect everyone so no one has an event role.

How would you do this?

I'm on V12

Thanks

Hi Larry

When I tried this i was able to untick all the users in the Event roles.

How are the event roles being assigned to the user - possibly if the users role is being assigned by an audience they won't be able to be unassigned.

Hi Craig,

I figured it out.

I didn't have a tick option for this event.

I had a list of names in a box which I selected by clicking on them. If I wanted to select more than one I held down shift and I thought that was how I deselected them. Turns out I need to hold down ctrl and click on names to deselect once I get down to indivduals.

thanks for your help,

Larry

Hi Craig,

Sorry I thught I had figured it out.

When I saved my changes with everyone deselect it kept someone in the event role.

I can change it to someone else but I can't make it so that it is blank.

It's not a big problem provided you set up the event correctly first but slightly annoying you can't go back to having no one.

New courses and their new event/event roles option have the tick box option which I assume works much better. But for these older courses which are using this field with names in them it is a bother.

Happy to hear any suggestions on what I can do here in case I'm missing a setting or somethig else.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry

Ok I think I can see what is happening - when there is a large number of Trainers to choose from the options turn into a list box rather than the checkbox that I had.

To deselect an item from the list box requires you to hold the Ctrl key while clicking on the item rather than just clicking on the item.

Hi Larry

I have created a ticket to try and make the selection of multi select items easier TL-22941 (viewable to partners)

Thanks Craig. I did that but even when I unclick everyone after I save my changes it leaves the last person I unclicked in the event role.

I can change that person around but I can't make it so that no one is in the event role.

E.g. I unclick everyone and the last person I unclick is person 1. I save the changes but when I check the workshop person is still showing in the event role.

If I go back in person 1 is still showing as selected in the event role.

If I then select person 2 and unclick person 1 and save my changes if I go into the event again person 2 now shows in the event role.

There doesn't appear to be a way to save the event without anyone in the event role.

Hi Larry

I tried deselecting the last event role with Ctrl+Click and this worked Ok - does person 1 have multiple roles or part of an audience that is being assigned roles?

They have two roles, learner & trainer. They are not part of an audience being assigned roles.

If I copy the event with person 1 in the event role and Ctrl +Click to unselect them then when I save the event it has no one in the event role.

But if I save the event with someone in an event role  I'm unable to remove the last person E.g. an event has 3 people with the event role, I Ctrl + Click to unselect them but when I save the last person unselected still shows in the event role.

I can swap them around (I can change person 1 to person 2) but I can't have it so no one is in the event role. i.e. if I  Ctrl + Click person 2 so they are last person unselected when I save person 2 still shows as having the event role.

Hi Larry

Are you able to get a support ticket created with details of your system and seminar settings so we can investigate  this further as the behaviour doesn't sound right.

Hi Larry

I have this problem too.  I think it is around my having created a site role, who need to approve/reject bookings.  My work around is creating a user with a fake email address, so that no one receives the emails and so that I can always select somebody.

Regards

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

That does sounds like what I have.

We do have a "fake" user we can use but our issue is witha name appear ing on the event. We don't want people trying to contact a fake name any more than we want them to contact a real one.

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to hide that event role field at an event level.

Thanks for your help.

Larry

I have found a way around this it's not pretty and may not suit all circumstances but it works

If you remove enough users so you only have three people in the the event role (including the one you are trying to remove) the list box reverts back to checkbox and you can then untick them and save it. The save then holds and there is no one in the event role.

You then have to add everyone back if you need them though.
