Q on editing forums (forae)

Dear Community,

i would like to disable the automatic emails informing about new threads/replies - will I achieve this with "Subscription disabled"? Because the note below lists the fact that any changes are only applicable for new members?

When a participant is subscribed to a forum it means they will receive forum post notifications. There are four subscription mode options: Optional subscription: Participants can choose whether to be subscribed. Forced subscription: Everyone is subscribed and cannot unsubscribe. Auto subscription: Everyone is subscribed initially but can choose to unsubscribe at any time. Subscription disabled: Subscriptions are not allowed. Note that any subscription mode changes will only affect users who enrol in the course in the future, and not existing users.

The settings for subscription options are for the user who sets up the forum and affects every participant in the forum.

For an individual user to unsubscribe you should see links in the bottom of the forum email notification with subscription options similar to below

You need to be logged on to Totara for this to activate.
