Temporary Manager - Receive certification messages?

Hi, I am running Totara Learning 9. I just wanted to check that  when a Temporary manager is applied, they will receive copies of any email reminders that are sent to managers regarding their team members certifications etc window open, due, expired etc?

Hi Lee

In theory when a temporary manager is assigned then they will be able to take all manager actions and receive notifications the manager should receive. 

In practice if the notification has already been triggered for the manager then it won't be retriggered for the temporary manager so the temporary manger may miss some messages triggered for past events.

Hi,

I'm trying to find out how temporary managers can receive the same notifications as the usual manager.

We have manager approval for seminars turned on.  So as a test, I have added a temporary manager to my account and when I book in for a seminar my usual manager receives the approval request notification but my temporary manager doesn't.

Is there a setting somewhere that I need to turn on to enable the notification to go to the temporary manager?

Hi Nathan

In theory the temporary manager and existing manager should both receive seminar notifications.

Are you able to create a support ticket with details of seminar settings, the notification type  and version of Totara you have

I couldn't see how to raise a support ticket on the Totara website so I'll post the information you requested here.  If you need the information in a support ticket then if you could let me know how to do that then I would appreciate it.

The notification type is: APPROVAL REQUIRED - Face-to-face booking request.

In our Notification settings we have "Manager Copy" ticked.

In our Seminar settings we have "Manager Approval" ticked.

Our Totara version is 12.19

The issue is when I add a Temporary Manager to my Job Assignment they don't receive the notification to approve my booking.  Only my existing manager does.

Also, in our Scheduled Tasks, I found a task called "Update temporary managers" which it states has never run and has 86400 errors.  I have attached a screen shot.  Could this be causing our issue?
