What exactly is it referring to when it says "performance issues"?
How might these issues manifest?

Has anyone using event monitoring experienced any issues with using it?

Hi Larry
The performance issues will be shown by the general increase in response time.
There are events created for hundreds of actions so turning on event monitoring will mean these are being checked to see if these have been triggered.
The best way to see the effect is to check the performance of a report and then turn on event monitoring and run the same report and note if there is a significant difference in performance.
If there is then turn off event monitoring.
Whether or not this is significant depends on your setup and usage.

Was considering testing it for late course cancellations to trigger an email to instructors so they are aware and can react.
It appears to be working fine.
I haven't rolled it out widely yet but so far I've had no issues.
