Course Complete but not all Activities Achieved

I have created a certification course that has a number of activities in it. All was working fine until a learner failed his Competency Assessment Interview (they are required to achieve 100%). The interview is set up as an Assignment activity and it is recorded on his course record as: Completed (but did not achieve pass grade).

So though he has Completed it he hasn't passed it and therefore we don't want it to show he is 100% complete on the course.

What I am struggling to work out is what setting I need to look at so the course does not show 100% completed as he hasn't reached a 100% scoring in his Assignment.

Any advice would be appreciated. We are using Totara version 12.

Hi Sue

There is some discussion on having a passing grade for activity completion purposes - currently someone who fails is considered as completing the activity but not successfully completing the activity.

The end result was that in Totara 13 a passing grade for assignment activity completion was added.

Thanks Craig, I think that is similar the workaround I've come up with. I've added an additional completion criteria stating they have to achieve a minimum of 115 (grade is made up of the minimum pass score of 15 for the quiz and 100 for the assessment interview). I've tested it and it appears to be working and showing learner who achieve less than 115 as partially complete overall even though they have taken part in all the activities.

Unfortunately we are some way off upgrading to version 12 but nice to know that it has been dealt with in that upgrade.
