It is possible to show the roles that a user has in the system under Site admin > Permissions > Check system permissions but this doesn't show at other levels such as or category level.
Using the Bulk actions filter to show users with a course or system level doesn't work at a category level - there is an existing feature request TL-19097 discussed here
