Course navigation

Hi,

We have courses which have various modules and sections with different content (H5P, text, PDF's, Scorm packages etc.) I want to know if there is a way of adding navigation buttons to each section in Totara so the learner can progress on to the next part of the course without having to go back to the main course contents first?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Amanda

The latest Totara 13 includes collapsible sections similar to what is used on Community site

Another alternative is to use blocks in the course such as the Sections Link or maybe a HTML block that you can add links to sections in.

Something else that might help although it could mean more work however it can remove the scroll of death that you can get in some courses.

You could organise your course activities upside down with the first activities at the bottom of the course page and the last at the top. You then hide all of the activities, except the first, using access control. Then you make any following activities appear above its preceding activity, using Activity completion. and so the newest activity is always at the top of the page.

Or you can set the Topic course format to show one section per page

Thanks for your help. I have set the topic course format to one section per page, which is looking better. However when a learner proceeds to click on one of the activities from that section, for example, a scorm, or a H5P presentation, there's no navigation options on those activities other than clicking back on the browser or the hyperlinks at the top. Is there any option to do this? Thanks
