Cancelling Seminar Activity Events once in progress or in the past
by Cathy Manhire - Wednesday, 13 January 2021, 9:26 AM

I have been asked how we can set an event for a seminar activity to cancelled after it was meant to have started.  We have had occassions when an event is cancelled very much at the last minute and the cancellation has not been able to be processed before the due start time.

The cancel event option is no longer available in the list of past events or an event in progress.  If I were to change the date to the future I could then cancel the event but then I am unable to then to edit the event and change the date back to what it should have been.

We need to be able to do this to record all cancelled events and also to inform wouldbe attendees that they need to rebook.

We would expect to be able to do this if delegates have not been marked as attended.

I have found another entry asking this same question in September 2017!  but couldn't see an answer.

We are using Totara 12

Many thanks

Cathy

Hi Cathy

It looks like the option to cancel an event in the past was 'fixed' very early on in Totara as it was thought this behaviour was not going to occur

It is possible for an admin to remove all users from the event in the past and send a message to these users.

There is also a seminar notification Seminar booking cancellation that is sent out automatically when a user cancels their booking.

Check the seminar setting 'Allow cancellations' is set to 'At any time'
