Updates to Academy training
With new features coming out all
the time, we’ve updated some of our training to include the new features
available to you now:
Multitenancy in Totara
Not every organisation delivers learning or manages performance of a single group of users who all work for the same business. In fact, many organisations have more complicated structures. Extended enterprise is becoming an increasingly common business model, with organisations operating through partner or vendor networks, or individual brands owned by a larger umbrella group. All of these use cases, and many more, require the ability to segment and manage groups of users differently. In this course, we’ve updated the video ‘Applying a tenant theme’ as tenants are now able to have their own branded login page so that each tenant can have a different branded user experience.

Workspaces in Totara Engage
Having access
to training content and supportive collaboration at the point of need is
essential to ensure people actually develop and continue to grow. And that’s
where workspaces in Totara Engage come in. In this course, we’ve updated the
video ‘Creating workspaces’ as you can now bulk upload users to workspaces in
Totara Engage.

Upcoming webinars
From spreadsheet to LMS - winner of Totara’s best manufacturing project 2020
Etex is an experienced international building materials company which aims to inspire people around the world to build living spaces that are ever more safe, sustainable, smart and beautiful.
Etex Building Performance UK worked with Totara Alliance Partner Chambury Learning Solutions to start from scratch with a learning management system (LMS) to replace their basic spreadsheet-based learning records. Etex needed to create locally relevant content to help bring the site to life and engage its learners. As a result of COVID-19 and the UK’s national lockdown Etex Building Performance needed to keep 500 furloughed employees engaged, informed and reassured about pandemic developments, as well as equipping them with the skills to learn off-site throughout the lockdown.
Join Genevieve Tofield, Learning and Development Manager as she walks us through Etex’s journey and discusses lessons learnt throughout the process. In the webinar, you'll learn how Etex:
- Went from spreadsheet to LMS
- Saw a staggering 284% increase in usage over the pandemic
- Built an award-winning project

Totara Learn + Totara Engage: Developing next-generation learning content
Traditionally, teams have relied on their learning and development departments to ensure they have the right training content available to upskill people. An alternative option is to hire new team members that can fill the skills gaps in teams. But these approaches leave a wealth of untapped knowledge within teams themselves.
As technology rapidly increases, we have new opportunities to allow individuals to create, access and share content so that vital information can be distributed quickly by key stakeholders.
Join Senior Partner Success Manager Meredith Henson as she reviews how you can:
- Combine Totara Learn, Totara Engage and Totara Perform to ensure your teams are on the cutting edge of learning technology
- Ensure your teams can create user-generated content
- Combine formal and informal learning

Product updates - Collapsible topics
In the Totara Academy we use collapsible topics, or accordions to help you navigate around a course page, allowing you to expand and collapse sections as you wish. This is a great feature for longer course pages, and many members of the Community have requested this be available in core - and it now is! You can learn more about collapsible topics here. Speak to your partner about upgrading if you’d like to have this available to you.
Zoom integration
We’ve also released a new virtual room integration for Totara Learn, making it easier than ever to organise and run online learning events.
The integration offers a quick, easy and seamless way for trainers to set up and manage online training events within one single platform. Syncing Totara with video communication tools like Zoom reduces the overhead of administration and human error.
Using the virtual meetings plugin, you can set up a virtual event in Totara Learn and automatically create your Zoom meeting link from within the seminar. You can set everything up without leaving Totara Learn.
If you’re a Trainer and new to teaching online here are some tips to help you get started.
