It is possible to set the no-reply address this should usually match the user account for SMTP authentication. If this setting is empty or incorrect then outgoing emails are likely to get marked as spam or are not delivered at all.
Another possible cause of this is the email server is blocking the noreply address - solving this depends on the email server you are using. This will require the email server admin to resolve for example if you are using Microsoft Exchange there are some tips here to fix.
