New User Notification

Hi guys,

We are using Totara V12 and currently we include the password in the csv file when uploading users.

I am thinking we could stop including the password and therefore make use of the function where Totara emails a notification to the new user advising of their username and password.

Does anyone know if you can alter the wording or the formatting in this notification.  I've had a look through the Totara Help and my LMS administration settings and can't find anywhere to do it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Nathan

Group Totara

Hi Nathan

This can be achieved through editing the password reset string in the language pack.

The string for this is emailresetconfirmation

Hi Craig,

I know it's not currently possible - but could Totara be updated to enable HTML for this email?

This Moodle tracker item suggests it's possible with a simple change: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-59957

I think Nathan is also referring to "newusernewpasswordtext" - rather than the reset email.

Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Simon,

Yes that is what I was referring to.  I did manage to find it once Craig's help got me to the correct screen.

Cheers

Hi Craig

We are currently trying to change the admin's email in the notification ( referred to {$a->admin}.
I just have changed the email address of the admin user and tested the "forgot password" function out. But it did not work, the email-address is still the old one. So I wonder what this variable {$a->admin} refers to and where can I change it?

Thanks for your help

Best regards,
Markus

Hi Markus

I think it's the address specified under Site administration/System information/Support contact/Support email
