blank screen on SCORMS

Hi guys, we are on Totara v12 and use Rise Articulate for our SCORMS.

We are seeing more and more issues lately where when a team member attempts to complete a module, it doesn't complete and then they can only open to a white screen after. It is as if it is getting stuck.

Has anyone seen this and can provide any guidance? Rise does have a new setting to help which we have implemented, but we are still seeing this issue in both certifications and non-certifications.

Hi Rebecca,

I suspect this maybe the SCORM - can you test it on SCORMcloud?

If you've ruled out issues with the package, could you ask your Totara Partner to submit a Support ticket with a copy of the SCORM?

cheers,

George.

Hi Rebecca

There was a problem with SCORMs fixed in 12.33 where the progress of an attempt was reaching a limit (64kb characters)

To see if this might apply - as an admin, check the saved attempt data (in the scorm module, reports -> basic -> click the "1" next to the learner's name -> track details) and there will be a lot of characters in cmi, interactions

The other thing that may have happened is you have updated the course and the user who has an attempt saved tries to relaunch the course after saving progress and the updated course doesn't match the same structure as the original one.

I also found this post in the Articulate forums  For us it turned out that the problem was caused after Articulate made a change to the Scorm driver file in the last Rise update (which I think was around November 2020). Our LMS couldn't handle the change (where a course was published as 1.2 but was being detected as 2004) and therefore anything that was packaged with the new driver would return a blank screen on second launch. The fix was to simply find an old Rise course (pre-Nov update) copy out the scorm driver and use this in any new packaged content.

If these don't help then please file a support ticket as George suggested.
