Condition: Course grade - how is it calculated

Hello,

We have a course with 3 quizzes and each quiz is set to require a min passing score of 80. We currently have the course completion set with: Condition: Course grade

We have two questions.

1. When you put the course grade in the Required course grade block, do you enter a raw score or a percentage score? If it's a percentage score, do you enter it as a percent or decimal?

2. How is the course grade calculated? Is it an average of all graded quizzes in the course?

We are on v11 and do not have the gradebook feature active.

Hi Jessica

The Gradebook allows you to control the way the course grade is calculated and would recommend you use this if possible.

If you don't have this then the grade will be the total grade for the three quizzes added together - a raw score

Can you detail what you want the grade requirements to be to successfully complete the course?

Ah, interesting. Ok. We have three quizzes with a passing score of 80 on each. Now I'm wondering about that grade setting too. We were seeing the quiz grades as a percentage score, but maybe we need to figure out the raw score for those as well.

We would like the course completion requirements to require an 80 or higher on all three indivudal quizzes.

We have quizzes with these settings:

But we don't have 100 points in the quiz:

Do we need to set max grade at 1? and grade to pass as 1?

And then if we had 3 of these and we wanted them to get a 1 (or 100%) on all 3 to get a course completion, we would put a score of 3 in the overall course completion grade?

Or if we had three exams with 100 points each and wanted them to get at least 80 on each, we would set the course grade to 240?

OK - in this case if there is only one question then what ever grade is allocated to this question (probably 1) then the course grade should add to 3 providing there are no other graded activities.

If there is more than one question in each quiz then the gradebook is probably required.
