We're not going down the Teams virtual room provider route for the moment.
Using your alternative suggestion, I have created a virtual room using a custom link. How can I now use a placeholder in V16 Notifications so the link appears in notifications so users can directly access the Teams event, please? I can still not see an option in the list of placeholders for rooms.

Did you ever get this sorted as i find myself with a V13 custom webinar link [session:webinarlink] that i cannot locate a placeholder for in V16 notifications. Worked fine in V13 however now in V16 and looking to transition and cannot locate how

Event Custom Field support was added in v18 (TL-36848 I believe, although I can't seem to find that in release notes): https://totara.community/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=27267#p105834
