Test statistics for learners

Hello,

we would like to set up a test with personalised feedback that gives an overview of the learner's competences. this test should extract 2-3 random questions from different question banks. Each question bank stands for a specific competence. After completion of the test, the learner should get a visual overview of how well he/she is at those competences, e.g. in form of a pie chart for each competence.

Do you know if there is already a plugin related to this request? Or is there an alternative solution (e.g. setting up the test in a way that a download via CSV oder Excel can be further utilized to display the competence overview).

Your help will be much appreciated!

Kind regards,

Christine

Hi Christine,

This would be tricky to set up using quizzes in Totara.

I think the easiest way to create this would be to use an external authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline.

In storyline, you could have various question banks, and track the competence of each area using numeric variables which track which questions were answered correctly.

You could then create custom results slides which show different pie charts for each competency based on the numeric variables.

Hi Jordan!

Thanks for your tip concerning Articulate Storyline. Unfortunately, the creation of quizzes with that tool does not totally meet our needs. While it is possible to create custom result slides, it is not possible to set up partial points for multiple response questions, i.e. there's only the option for all or nothing type of questions.

Thus, my question now is: Is it possible to create some sort of report out of the grades that shows for each test taker which questions out of which question banks were answered correctly/partially correct/wrong (or just via points), especially when the question in the test are randomised?

It would be ideal if this report could also be made available to the test taker.

Your help would be much appreciated1

Kind regards,

Christine
