I believe your question is related to the number of days and number of events to look ahead for. By default it is 21 for the number of days to look ahead for and a default of 10 for the number of events.
If you go to Site administration > Appearance > Calendar, you will be able to increase/decrease these settings there. The setting options to look out for are Days to look ahead and Events to look ahead.

Hi Gareth,
By default the Calendar shows the next 21 days worth of events. You can change that site wide by going to Site Administration > Appearance > Calendar and bumping the "Days to look ahead" setting up to a maximum of 99 days.

Glad to hear it Gareth! 99 is the max through the user interface. I would guess that could be bumped up in the database, but it's not something I've tried before so your results may vary.
