Hi,

I've a question. Do you guys know where i can find any Totara training slides and material? I just can't found any links and it seems quite jumble up here and there.

I have to prepare a particular presentation about Totara and it's architectural design, system views, etc. Can anyone guide me where i can find these kind of documentations?

Thanks.

Hi Satar

There are some training materials on the Community Resources part of this site

Self-paced Course: Setting up and Managing Totara

Self-paced Course: Totara for Trainers

There are also resourecs for learners

Learning with Totara (A demonstration Video)

An overview of Totara features and architecture is available at

http://totaralms.com/feature-a-benefits/key-features

If more detail is required we might be able to make some content from the Partners area available or create something that describes the architecture in more detail.

regards

Craig

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply. Really aprreciate it. All the links that you gave me is more towards basic and details on how to use the system.

The presentation that i'm making is basically about the competency management in Totara. They asked me to prepare slides material on it, but what i know, as a user and as a beginner developer in Totara, the training material or description in Totara sites and forum is more on 'how the system works' and also is more towards the user of the system, e.g system admin, trainer, manager etc. Whereas, my target audience is the top management of the company. I wouldn't think they would like to hear the roles or how to use the system for the time being.

What i'm looking for is a very high view or an architectural design of the system. Or maybe you guys can just share with us the material that you guys use to convince the management level in subcribing Totara.

Thanks.

Hi Nurhaisyam

The benefits of subscribing to Totara are outlined on http://totaralms.com/services/subscription-options and include the upgrade and support of Totara through the support portal and wider community.

Totara has a flexible architecture - what is required is a web server that runs PHP this could be Apache or IIS and a database (MySQL, POSTGRES, ORACLE and MSSQL)

If you are already using Moodle then you will know the benefits such as easily customisable, very widely used, low cost, and the open source development model enabling fast and secure development of additional features. The additional benefits for Totara are the support and additional features for corporate Human resource planning.

There is some more detailed information on competencies at

http://www.kineo.com/moodle-insights/totara-feature-close-up-competency-frameworks.html

I hope this helps.
