The external database enrolment plugin allows for the creation of new courses.
This require the mapping of user fields from an external database to fields in Totara for enrolments. The options for the autocreation of new courses are below.

| enrol_db_autocreate: | Courses can be created automatically if there are enrolments to a course that doesn't yet exist in Totara. | |
| enrol_db_category: | The category for auto-created courses. | |
| enrol_db_template: | Optional: auto-created courses can copy their settings from a template course. Type here the shortname of the template course. | |
To try out this plugin go to Site Admin > Courses > Enrolments > External database > Edit

Hi -
Also - when we get to Totara2 (not useful to you now) - there will bethe possibility to use https://github.com/piersharding/moodle-tool_uploadcourse which uploads courses via CSV (like user upload), and also allows for creating from course templates, and course backup files.
