Hi Guys,

We are having a few issues with our iCal and Calendars. 

We are a global business and time zones are very important to us to ensure this is correct.

The issues we are experiencing are as follows:

  • Users are booked on a session on for example Thursday and see it in their Outlook on Friday

Or

  • Colleagues are booked on a session for 4.00 pm and see it at 5.00 pm in their Outlook!!!

We believe this to be a core code issue within Totara.  Our IT Team has investigated the problem and can see distinct differences in the Totara appointment vs. a normal outlook.  The GMT part is missing and therefore the appointment is not making the necessary time change.

Kineo have said this is not a 'bug' that they are able to assist us with and in this case they believe it to be a Outlook issue and should therefore be investigated locally.

We have investigated further and believe this is a Totara issue.

Has anyone else had this problem or can any please help us rectify this.

Hi,

A patch for ical timezone issues was included in todays (22th Nov 2012) releases of Totara 1.1.21 and 2.2.10. Upgrading to one of these should hopefully fix your issues with icals.

Hi Michelle,

There will be further updates in this week's 2.2.15 to get this working properly. It proved to be a much more complicated bug than we originally thought!

Check the PHP default timezone settings in the Totara config.php file on the server.

Also you can see what is currently defined for PHP (php.ini) timezone under Site Administration > Server > PHP info
