Totara sync issues

Hi,

I have been playing with Totara sync in Totara 2.4.0 and have found a couple of issues

1. How can I specify an org or position framework to use in the user upload csv file?  I have multiple frameworks and it's only using the top one in the list

2. The error displayed if you have more columns in the user.csv file than the source config is set up to use is not very friendly.  It's giving me the generic "could not import all records" error

Hi David,

Theres some documentation around 1) in help http://help.totaralms.com/index.htm. All you need to do is specify the Position and Organisation ID numbers in the source document.

2) We have someone working on the error messages and hope to have something more user friendly in operation soon.

Hope this is useful,

regards,

George.

I will add to this that the error reporting could be more robust concerning field character length limits.  For instance the Totara Sync documentation at http://help.totaralms.com indicates field length limitations, but when I attempt import of fields which exceed the character limits/requirements the debug output and sync log information don't tell you what the problem was. I have spent a lot of time debugging Totara Sync issues which were caused by import fields being too long, for instance city or department. I think better error reporting/handling along these lines could be valuable.
