SCORM Activity Settings

Hello,

We are using QuestionMark for our course exams, so we have uploaded a SCORM package. The exam launches from the course, you complete the test, and then hit close, and the only window that's open after you hit close is the Totara window saying your content didn't launch and giving you the option to manually launch. We have lost the course structure, so users have to then hit the back button on the browser to get back to the course. Can you tell us what setting we have incorrect? I noticed in the Totara academy courses, it also gives the message in the content section that the content didn't launch, but the course structure is still visible, so you can ignore that comment and click back on the topic from the menu.

Thank you!

Is anyone else using QuestionMark in conjunction with Totara?

Hello,

Also, I found online that the “new window (simple)” option was a Totara fix to Moodle 2.x. Can anyone tell us how the new window option is different from the new window (simple)? Our QuestionMark exam will launch with the simple, but we just get a blank screen in the popped up window with the new window option.

Thank you!

Hi Jessica

I am not exactly sure what your screen looks like - have you tried the SCORM setting under Appearance > Show more and the 'Display course structure' options to show in the player and/or the entry page.

I had a look for some documentation on the new window simple setting but couldn't find anything in tracker, forums  or documentation . I assume this is for compatibilty purposes as browsers and different authoring tools behave differently.

Hello, Craig,

It looks like with new window, a new window pops up, and then if our SCORM package needs to launch another window, it does it from there, so the initial course page stays static. With new window (simple), the main course page ends up launching the first window that says the "you will be automatically redirected in..." and then the second window is launched from there, but the redirect page (the first new window) replaces the original course page, so you can't close windows to get back there. You have to hit back on the browser. We are using IE 11 and Windows 10. I uploaded screenshots. Our QuestionMark SCORM packages will not show the exam content if we select new window, so we have to use the simple option. I also attached the appearance settings we have set for our QM SCORM packages using the simple option.

If the QM packages are AICC instead of SCORM, could that cause an issue? If so, what settings would we set for the AICC packages?

Thank you!

Hi Jessica

The new window simple looks as though this prevents some of the Appearance options being displayed such as resizing and close window.

When I tried with a SCORM package using New Window the content displayed Ok and closing the window directed back to the course with the message saying this has been launched in a popup window to click to go back to the course.

Does this message come up for you - what version are you using.

Hi Rahul

Are you wanting to create SCORM content for the health sector . If this is the case  you will need a content authoring tool that can create SCORM content. The one that best fits depends on your

  • budget
  • type of content required
  • experience of authors
  • what format the existing content is in
  • compatibility with existing software.

The content needs to be saved in SCORM 1.2 .

If you are meaning already existing content then you may be interested in the Content marketplace in the soon to be released Totara v12
