Problem Definition

When events with multiple sessions that take place over a period of one year. There's a chance that a user has a scheduling conflict with a seminar in another course.

At this moment they find only one way to work around this issue and that is by manually enrolling users into the sessions and allowing scheduling conflicts on enrollment. However this causes the following issue:

When they add or edit items in the session, they can not save it. Because users have a scheduling conflict and the system is no longer able to work around that. They have to go through a lot of manual administration to fix this. E.g.:

  • cancel the adjustment
  • remove the participants with the conflict from the session (This adjusts the original registration date, which gives a distorted picture)
  • make the adjustment in the seminar
  • re-enroll the users manually and allowing the scheduling conflicts (which again gives a distorted picture of the actual enrollment date).

Suggested Solution

We would like to be able to allow scheduling conflicts on a seminar level, to be able to decide per seminar activity whether it's allowed to have a scheduling conflict with another seminar.

Is there a way to set a Course/Seminar to be similar to a program that does not stop users enrolling in to other courses?

We will have users enrolling in University Courses that we need to track that range from a 3 months to 18 months.  We need them to be enrolled in the course but still be able to be enrolled in other seminar events.

Are you able to have an additional option were we can set at a course level to “Allow Scheduling Conflicts” so that if this course would not be included when checking for conflicts?
