I was wondering if anyone had specific advice or guidance of how they configure their site to help with safeguarding of youth on their platform which adults also have access too?

There are site policies that you can add, you can also make it so uses need to accept these before accessing the system.
It is also possible to create a custom profile field for birthdate
You can then restrict access to content based on the date in the birthdate profile filed
