Morning all from a....at this minute sunny Scotland.


Apologies if this has already been done to death as a topic but is there any feedback or further information regarding a server error issue that blocks entry to totara sites?


I would note that I have my employers site that does it and so does this.


If not knowing what Im talking about I'll try and get some screenshots.

Hi Andy

There are a number of ways a site can be blocked it might be your Ip address is being blocked by a firewall, browser settings or the site may actually be down.

Are you able to access the site from within your employer network, or using another another browser or through the ip address of the site.

If these don't work then it is probably a firewall preventing access.

If this doesn't help then some screenshots will help.

Hi Craig, cheers for the response. We were told by our support that this was a totara core element issue. I attach a screenshot if you can confirm?

I get this on both my employers site and this site.

Hey, Andy.

This has been reported to Totara Support before and, unfortunately, we have not been able to recreate the problem or find the source of the problem in order to fix it. It is a tricky one.

Please can you get in touch with your Totara Solutions Partner to raise this request with Totara Support and we can do some more investigation. The more reports we have and the more information we can get will increase the likelihood of finding the cause of the problem and fixing it.

Am I right in saying you still get access to the affected sites and it is just an intermittent error, or is the error consistent and you are not able to log in?

Hi Tom,

cheers for the assist and information. Our third party host for the employers site has reported it and I thought it best to log it here myself as it occurred on a personal level too.

Thankfully on both sites the error occurs once but then on second entry attempt it logs in.

Ideally we need a login name and password of an Site Admin account.

appreciate the help. In terms of my employers site it has a company that externally host and monitor it. They've reported and are taking relevant steps at their end.

I was mentioning it on this forum as I noticed it occurring again with the totara login just to see if there was any changes to this.

I'll just wait and hear from the external host an outcome.
